Where'd the Parodius characters come from?

Vic Viper and Twinbee I know, but the rest...I have no idea. I remember Moogy telling where Takohiko came from, but I forget and am too lazy to search right now. But the others, like Soitsu/Doitsu, Memim/Sue, Upa/Rupa and the cats and that penguin, where the hell did they come from?

Takohiko was made up to be the Parodius mascot. All the rest are from other Konami games. You should be able to find ROMs of them somewhere.

I have every SNES ROM ever, so I most likely have them. I was just wondering if somebody conveniently knew the names of the games these characters were from. May be I should have posted this is the game forum, but there are too many idiot newbs there...
