To me, ffr r2 is just like a little better version of ffr... Stepmania is still a lot better. First of all, the arrows still dont go as smooth as sm, and there arent anywhere near as much options.

I know its not what I wished it would be, but do you have any clue of how much coding and computer work that took? Its amazing for a flash internet game, you can't find anything this good on the internet without downloading anything.

Go to hell dsa. I haven't had one SPECK OR REMNANT of a problem even after playing through each song of R2 on heavy. Like you have room to bash something that Synth and his staff have worked fervently on for a long while.

iopq,
Did you happen to see the demo video that has been out for a couple months?
Also the smoothness of playback is tied to a great number of factors in your system. As an exe it pulls 124fps on my machine locally. In a browser you have limits. You are also limited when you cannot use DirectX, C++ or even Directdraw.
Factors Factors Factors.. Public Beta Version 1

Also this is the first couple hours it has been up... remember the first days of ffr1...(well i wasnt but it was probably pretty bad : / )
i kno synth and his staff will add some sweet stuff to it
also, some stuff that is on the game but you cant access it like:
1)charaters in the option menu (UPLOAD CHARACTERS!)
2)double,challenge, online versus
3)Personal songs
4)and ALOT more that i forgot
and there will be other add ons to0. I truely think this is a great start for r2
good job Synth! :)

it still has a DDR interface
I liked the FFR one
Now I have to turn the speed way up to make it go at the same speed as FFR
I can't even beat levels at 2x
I need 3x minimum
Getting 60 FPS
and no I didn't see the demo

It, in effect...loses originality points do to the sudden Stepmania clone look...
And it seemingly feels wierd...but it's a feeling I'll get used to. (same feeling I had to change for Frequency and Amplitude) I really hate those steam arrows.
Otherwise it's awesome. The only things I could complain about would be twarted with the words "beta version." Don't take my frivolous complaints harshly....(spelling sucky!) it's too awesome for words.

WTF.... What did you expect R2 to be like? Jesus, all these games (dwi, SM, ffr etc) are ALL clones of DDR, and R2 is SO much closer to it than ffr was. Don't get me wrong, i liked ffr, but always played SM much more over it. Now however, this seems a much more likely thing to play, especially when online vs comes into play. I'll still play SM more, but i really don't get why your complaining... the arrows run fine on me, its a BETA version so of course there aren't going to be as many options...
Seems like your complaining for the sake of complaining

It looks pretty good, as good as SM.
But still laggy, it says 64fps but like 15-20fps in my feeling.
My PC isn't especially slow at all.

All I have to say the ffr team worked hard, and I like it. I really don't see how someone can say "this sucks" when they've worked on it for over a year. I've been waiting for R2 to be released and I'm glad to say I'm disappointed.

Great, Awesome. I know what you had to do to get this going, Synth, and the sheer amount of hours spent on it.
Now people, why don't we all be helpful and just work with what we have at the moment. About a year ago, FFR1 was in about the same stages. Yes, it had less bugs, but the complexity was no where near R2.
You dont believe me? Go to download section at the top right (FFR Files) and download the old FFR version.

I really would have rather waited longer for a more polished release.
I don't want a DDR clone. FFR was great because it wasn't DDR. I also don't like opening Windows calculator to figure out what speed settings I should use (C400, kthxbi). Bugs with songs? Should have been fixed before release.
I also am annoyed by the whole "pushing Flash to it's limits" thing. If it runs slowly in FF, it is too much.
If I wanted a DDR clone, I would play StepMania. FFR was cool because of exclusive songs and it was simple. It was really fairly different from DDR. R2=ARGH... 2. (hahahaha pun)

R2 is not a DDR Clone. It looks like DDR, but it has and will have features that will set it apart. A lot of ideas people had were things they had seen in SM and DDR. Everyone wanted a song wheel, different difficulty levels for each song, etc.
The bugs are in the simfiles. There was a problem with some of the simfiles in R2. This was a last-minute problem and we did all we could to fix it, however the only way to get R2 released on time with working sims was to get rid of some of the difficultly levels and add them in when there was more time to fix them.
FF is not good with flash. IE would be the better choice to run anything made in flash.

And about the song wheel, even FFR beta .48 and below had a song wheel of sorts.

Uh, wait. Everyone? Different difficulties didn't work IMO, are there even any level ones for the n00bs?
however the only way to get R2 released on time with working sims
I think it was released 12:01 CST. PWNED!
Seriously, I don't care about release dates. I care more about decent games. A day or two more isn't so bad. We've been waiting two years, right?

BONUS CRAP OMG:
These are some funny quotes from peeps about R2. I don't want to offend anyone in these quotes.
aperson on why Skor's Euromorroc was used instead of Toph's:
"He had AWESOME light and beginner steps."
[BTW: They kept Toph's graphics with no credit]
Arch0wl about R2:
This is a definite improvement to the old FFR. This is like comparing Oprah now to Oprah when she was huge. Now unless you have a fat fetish, new Oprah beasts all over old Oprah. However, those wanting a more polished keyboard mashing experience should download the Keyboard Mega Pack.
I don't agree with him, but good quote.

The difficulties will be added back with time. And it was better for people to play it then to make them wait. Chit Chat was going crazy XD.

Maybe aperson has other reasons for choosing Skor's Euromorroc. There will be credit given for graphics soon, Toph's name will be included.

The game is a definite improvement on the graphics standpoint. Old ffr is about the same in terms of lagginess for me. But thats because i run a 1.5 ghz. Only problem ive got with it, is that the stepfile i made has no heavy (which i understand was a problem that needed to be done to get the game up) and the standards missing steps in random places. Every song is offsync.
I know that in the future these problems will be fixed.. so hopefully they will.
SM is better then r2 only because its run on C++ and it uses the video card to render everything...
R2 uses flash, and uses purely the processor. So its harder for me to compare the two when i run on a crappy machine like this :/. But after all the bugs are fixed.. im sure someone with a 3.0 ghz machine will consider r2 better then stepmania.
I look forward to seeing a bug free r2. That way i wont have to load SM all the time, and i can play it from anywhere!!
Thank you synth.

Me personally... my opinion... i was expecting something unique... something that FFR could call theirs... (aside from FFR and all the others being like DDR)... this to me is too much like SM... i started playing FFR first... then i got SM... I still perfered FFR cause it was more of a challenge... SM is a challenge too (sometimes even more so) but... now FFR is set it up to where you can jst let things slide a little bit... I remember working on little songs jst so you could get up to the better... faster... harder... awsome songs... now... it jst seems... bleh... The one thing i really like is the speed change... Its much funner on something 4X i dont know y...
Sry synth... i jst kinda like the FFR version way better... I know it took FOREVER to get all the coding an such down and perfect... i think that it kicks a$$ n all... its still fun... but... Its not original... its not... FFR :?

The outer may look similar to SM and such, but it's going in a different direction than SM. Read what Synth wrote:
Working on it guys.. Getting there... Soccr is now asleep. He had been working on it since 6am. Make sure you send him a thanks.
Ok.. Just to clear up a few things about R2 vs SM (this issue was mentioned in another thread and I am too lazy to go find it).
This is a matter of apples and oranges. Each has their strengths.
I have however considered this.. The first beta release of R2 is going to show the new face of where we are going and what we are looking to accomplish. I don't plan on being so secretive about the upcoming features of R2 either. And.. Believe me when I say that I have heard and consider both the suggestions of players and the current features in games like DDR or Stepmania.
In the next few versions of R2 we will be working towards these features.. and yes you can already see some of the interface being prepped for it.
Editing your own stepfiles online and saving them so that you can play them anywhere.
Uploading noteskins and possibly R2 skins to your profile.
Very intuitive java socket connection multiplayer possibly with "auto-matching" based on rank.
Uploading stepfiles and mp3 files to your "profile" from your local drive
Stepfile trading between accounts
I think that should be enough to wet your appetite's. It isn't often that I ever talk about my plans.
Give us time.. Time is really the key. The big hump is out of the way with the first revision R2 engine being built. Think of where FFR was at during the first version. Think of Stepmania's first beta and then realize that R2 is in it's first public revision tonight.
Cheers,

omg synth is a god...i want all those right now!!! well not really i just mean that they'll kick ass. I just want more songs :). R2 is better than FFR. You have to look past the bugs and realize what this will eventually become. I played FFR first, then got SM and I still play both because of the online-ness of FFR and the ability to get random funny songs on SM (yay for hardware store by weird al). With R2, i can do BOTH those things AT THE SAME TIME!!!! omg this is gonna rock! Just keep throwing out new songs and PLEASE GOD GIVE US ARCADE SONGS!! Synth pwns all!

O and btw all you R2 smashers out there, dont smash R2 its just a first release beta, ANY first beta version is gonna be not polished enough,
go get a first beta version of SM or FFR and youll see what i mean, right now, even in its first release, R2 is way more ploshed than FFR or SM was while they were 1st beta, so i think Synth and the rest of the development team did an excellent job on this.

yea really, you people who are criticizing R2 really need to shut up, its a first release... its not perfect, its not TRYING to be perfect(not now at least 8) ), ok?
The easiest way to find all the bugs and problems is to release a beta and have the players test it and post in bug report threads, if you like ffr original and SM so much, YOU DONT HAVE TO PLAY R2
This is a HUGE flash undertaking, its gonna take some time to iron out the kinks so be PATIENT! im content to wait for the bugs to be fixed as long as they are fixed right, if you rush perfection youll just mess it up.
Just sit down somewhere and wait for them to fix it, you can only fix bugs so fast, it is difficult to find what causes them and it is difficult to rewrite the code so the bug is fixed and then you have to look at the whole game again to make sure that the fix didnt cause any more bugs.
