That's definitely a belief of many Deists; I hold the belief that God can and will affect our existence, but in what is important and not trivial human crap. So I believe that he can affect us but that we shouldn't rely on him to or expect to and that it shouldn't guide our actions.
Here's a good resource on the basic ideas of Deism, although by nature the religion is up for individual interpretation so none of these beliefs are "required," and in that sense none are universal.

I have to have some sort of logical justification for my beliefs, even if it's a personal thing that no one else would understand. But I can't comprehend the afterlife and I can't even begin to put it into words, so I don't pretend to be able to. Maybe one day I'll have an epiphany, but until then I have to remain completely neutral just because I don't know.

I really have no opinion on that, mainly because I can't grasp the concept and there is no logical way for me to make any assertion without talking straight out of my ass :). I'd like to think that there is something after death and that we are brought to our pure form and become-- for lack of a better term-- better, but I can't say I believe in an afterlife because I have no logical justification for that claim.
