 | Well the thing is that roy is kinda slow and can be predictable at times. Marth Is like the third best character in melee. That's for sure. Marth has very good priority and range. Link is very predictable. Doing down+A in the air will leave him wide open as long as the other player knows how to dodge. Not dodge roll, but dodge. Dodge brings link from second tier to mid. Shiek is most likely the best character in the game. Sheik, Fox, then Marth are the three top tiers. Shiek is top because she is very fast and has some killer moves that will spike the oponent into the air. Since it's only sends the opponent slightly up, shiek has plenty of chances to trap the opponent with dashing a, non-smash up+A works very well too. Also, since Shiek can save needles, she can fire them at will. Now let's talk about Fox. Fox is right below Shiek solely because he falls fast.
