I only thumbs up peoples profiles if i like them, not cuz they give me one. To get a thumbs up, you must have a: nice banner,text, background, and SOMETIMES pic.
I hate backrounds with a repeating pic (e.g one anime character), really annoying flash animation or whatever you call them. just cuz everything is all a certain Pokemon, anime character or whatever doesn't mean I'll like how it "matches".
Oh and if your icon is a recolor of anything, automatic thumbs down, unless it actually looks good. ;]
