Oh? Sounds pretty much like every other fantasy story ever told. What makes it unique?
I can't really say I like harem anime in general, unless they are really well done or are really distinctive. Also, having an open ending gives hope to those fans who don't support the "canon" pairing. That's where fanfiction authors (like myself) find our bread and butter.

Hmm, not quite - it's true that I prefer a slowly built up relationship rather than a spontaneous one, but I actually usually really dislike "tsundere" characters (unless it's within the realm of plausibility). I actually don't really mind open endings either, since it leaves it up to the reader to infer and craft what is going to happen for themselves. Fruits Basket and Pumpkin Scissors (while not truly shoujo) do a pretty good job of this, I think. Besides, that means there's always hope for a sequel!
Oh, I haven't heard about that show. What's the premise?
