About me:
I am 21 years old, as well as a college graduate. I play one handed three fingers as my playing style, and I don't intend to switch any time soon. I generally enjoy reading, programming, FFR, DDR/ITG, and music composition. I am still deciding on my future vocation, but an astronaut, game programmer, nuclear physicist, writer, and/or professional musician are possibly in the cards for me. I consider myself an intelligent individual, and I love a good debate or intellectual discussion any time of the day. I can be very assertive of myself to others, occasionally to a fault, and I have no patience for idiots and trolls. I respect those who are mature, intelligent, humble and kind to others.
Programming games, composing music, writing books, and reading...oh yeah can't forget video games. I am a die-hard gamer; I own systems from an Atari 2600 to the Wii.
Fav Music:
Pretty much everything. I don't like limiting myself to one style of music, I'll listen to anything, from metal/rock to classical.

Mena, our Chocolate Lab of nearly 16 years, had to be put down today after suffering a violent breathing attack. I wish I could say this was a surprise, but her health has been on a sharp downward trend in the past few months. Her breathing has become more labored, and she has been physically unable to sit or walk for long periods of time anymore on account of her deteriorating hip.

Until a few months ago, she was more or less in good health. Minus the issue of arthritis (which she has had for the past few years), she remained largely in good health. No tumors, no limb issues, no cancer or any other major health problems. First she began to have more severe issues with her hip, which visibly deformed and crippled her. Then the breathing attacks started - periods where she would violently suck in her chest and wheeze as though she were suffocating, typically after a period of physical activity. Her tongue would go purple, her gums would turn white and she would begin to foam at the mouth and drool. These attacks began barely a month ago, and rapidly increased in frequency leading up to today.

While her breathing eventually returned to normal after a few minutes, that did not happen this time. After 15 minutes of struggling to breathe, it became evident that this was not going to stop on its own. My family rushed her to the vet and tried to get her on oxygen, but she refused it despite repeated attempts to get her the air she desperately needed. After half an hour of heaving and wheezing, they made the decision to put her down. I had to help her through several attacks, and I know that making her suffer through more of that would have been cruel.

It's funny though - I don't feel that sad. She lived a very long and full life; traveling across the country and getting to see lots of new sights and sounds. She lived nearly to be 16 years old, no mean feat for a Chocolate Lab. Their life expectancy averages out to be 10-12 years, so we got a good number of bonus years with her.

My stepdad bought her right at the start of the new millenium as a puppy, and took care of her on and off until she joined our family permanently in 2007. We had a great run, and I can at least reflect upon the very long and rich life she got to live. I was at work when this all happened - I didn't even get to say goodbye to her. As shitty as that is, at least I got to spend many years with her.

RIP Mena, January 2000 - September 2, 2015

Kinda Playing FFR Again

Average rank in early 2009 when I stopped playing: 425

Average rank now: 971 (wait really? I figured it would be far worse)

Huh. At least that's what it says on my public level stats - my profile still lists my old average rank. I don't know how much I will end up playing since I'm still really trying to re-adjust to FFR's timing system. But I'm dipping my toes in the water by AAAing the single-digit difficulty songs and working my way up. One thing I do know: many of the songs I struggled with are a lot easier now, although my accuracy is still terrible since I'm so used to Stepmania's timing system.

I always loved being a part of FFR's competitive scene back in the day and I'm kinda itching to jump back in. I'm gonna start AAAing stuff and see where it gets me. I'm still not switching to spread though.

So close to the A. Whatever, I've already done it so that's good enough for me.

Not really, I kind of abandoned my dreams to be a competant one handed player a while back. But my right hand's let me down recently so it might be a good time to get back into the 1H game :)

It's embedded in the top of the monitor (laptop) and points straight out. I'd have a job getting it to point far enough down to get to my hand...but I'll try to get it to work :)

Yeah I'd make videos, but I don't really have a way to show my hand, all I've got is a webcam that can't point at the keyboard :(

Wow, sounds sweet! I'll be sure to check it out. I have hardly any experience with music programs. I have been making tracks using FL9 for a while now though :p
