Hello again. In addition to tonight’s Song Release I also have some updates about some of the batch plans in the end of this post. Today we have a collaboration between Charu and Gradiant for a J-Pop song from paraoka — it’s been a while since we’ve had a chart from Charu ingame! Also, we’ve got a comedic breakcore file from ilikexd. Comment on this week’s songs in this thread.

koumen break
Musician: sHimaU
Step Artist: ilikexd
Song Genre: Misc
Style: Breakcore
Difficulty: 72
Song Length: 1:28

Nekuro no Makkuro Kuro Majutsu

Starting from this Song Release, there will only be one Song Release every month (Songs of the Month). This will help us keep reserved files for the Official Tournament for the time being. Users should remember the public judgment engine in which they can play stepcharts and leave their comments in the Active Sets subforum. The Song Submission tab in the top navigation menu can also help with guidelines on leaving comments for public engine files. January/February 2015 already have the user feedback required, so the focus should be on March/April 2015 and later.

For the first time this year, we’ve had three bi-weekly song releases in the same month! This time around we have two songs that have a more relaxed atmosphere. Watch out for the snare runs in Forbidden Tracks — the song starts out tame, but then it picks up later and turns into a tricky technical challenge. Comment on this week’s songs in this thread.

Songs of the Week (Mar 15, 2016)

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on March 15th, 201625 Comments »

Welcome again to Bi-Weekly Songs of the Week! This time we’ve got two FGOs for all of you. We haven’t had a file in the 90s range released in a while, and with the completion of Phase 1 in the High FGO Special Batch we have a chart from t-rogdor that annihilates /mu/tant corecore for the hardest file under one minute in length. Despite the song length of 40 seconds, grind4 is packed with dense sections that provide an average of 18.04 TPS throughout the duration of the file.

The other song is WE EAT AT FIVE FIVE FIVE (guys), a remix of We Write at Two Five Five but with 300 pieces of bacon to make it Five Five Five! If you can successfully stream through this chart you’ll see the bacon. Comment on this week’s songs in this thread.

Musician: Cardboard Box vs. STereochan
Step Artist: ilikexd
Song Genre: Arcade
Style: 8-bit Comedy
Difficulty: 79
Song Length: 1:28

Musician: Dev/Null
Step Artist: t-rogdor
Song Genre: Misc
Style: Cybergrind
Difficulty: 90
Song Length: 0:40

March 2016 Site Updates

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on February 28th, 201623 Comments »

We are back for another month of new features and announcements! We listened to your suggestions and took our sweet time delivering them to you. This month’s updates are being announced two days early to accommodate for the continuation of the Songs of the Week releases, starting March 1st.

New Features!
7 New Visual Modifiers have been added to the R^3 engine. The newest game mods are: Sudden, Blink, Wave, Drunk, Tornado, Mini [Resize], and Mini Notes. You may recognize a few of these mods as legacy mods ported from the Velocity engine! Score saving is enabled for all new Visual Modifiers.

The results screen now features a Screenshot button for capturing score results locally. This change was made to circumvent images no longer uploading to Imgur due to a flash security update and Imgur API update.

The FFR Team page is directory created to list community staff and their roles, activity, and contact information. Until now, there has been no good place to search for relevant staff members, so we hope this is a welcomed change.

Community News
Season 2 of the EMG Rivalry is now underway! Deidara837, portalbob340, and axith invite all players in Division 4 – 6 to take one week to post the best scores they can on a selection of challenging songs. At the end of each week, credit prizes will be distributed to each player based on their performance. If you have been waiting to begin training for the upcoming Official Tournament, now is the time to start!

So far this year, three veteran players have joined the ranks of forum moderators. Please welcome the (coincidentally) 2015 Forum Awards “Next Mod” winner, YoshL, and thesunfan as our newest moderators of the The Werewolf Game sub-forum! Also please welcome our newly appointed Difficulty Consultant, Hakulyte, as sectional moderator of the Contested Chart Difficulties sub-forum.

DossarLX ODI has been invited to the Development team, and was granted access to start developing for the site. You can also follow progress on song submissions in the Weekly Batch Updates thread.

General Changes & Fixes
Latest Photos and Random Thoughts have been added to the Community menu.
A new Song Submission menu has been added to the navigation bar to provide links to resources regarding the submission of songs to the game.
Level stats have been extended to include the top 300 scores. Tied scores are now displayed as tied ranks. Tied scores are now sorted in order of time obtained.
Fixed a bug where all unread private messages were being marked as read. It is recommended that you check your inbox for possible missed private messages.
Fixed a bug where scrubbing saved replays would result in incorrect judgements.
Fixed an issue where hacked scores imported from the October 2014 backup were not removed from level stats.

Important Batch Updates

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on February 18th, 20163 Comments »

As Song of the Week releases have been postponed to prepare files for the next Official Tournament, there have been some important updates related to the Batch Forum.

• The new Batch Search Engine site for tracking user stepchart submissions is up and running. Please look at the Batch Search Engine User Manual for how to navigate this site effectively. All stepartists that have submitted since September/October 2014 have a user account on the site. The Batch Search Engine link can also be found under the Community tab in the navigation menu at the top of the site.

• A new condensed version of the Queue/Batch Discussion Thread has been created for more up-to-date information on the current file submission and judgment process.

• Remember that there is a new Public Judgment System in place for users to leave their thoughts on incoming file submissions. We’ve made good progress on January/February 2015, and the more input we receive the closer we get to the next Official Tournament. After reading the Public Judgment System, the Active Sets forum is where you can start providing your input to user stepchart submissions.

• Going to the above topic, I’d like to mention some statistics from the Batch Search Engine. We currently have 51 Accepted Songs and 39 Conditional Queue Songs. If those files in Conditional Queue are addressed, we will be at 90 Accepted Songs and will have many more songs available for the next Official Tournament. As of right now we have 157 of 328 files judged (going back to September/October 2014, all previous batches are already finished), around halfway through our backlog.

Tune into the Batch Forum for more updates regarding stepchart submissions, and feel free to leave a question there if something is unclear.

New Batch Forum and Public Judgement System

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on January 28th, 201613 Comments »

Hello everyone! It’s been a little while since there’s been any news on the front page. I apologize for that, I have been quite busy. However I do return with some news that I think will make a lot of people happy. We have decided to go ahead and try out transitioning to a public judgement system! If you’d like to learn more about this new system and start reviewing some files go check out the thread. A new forum named FFR Batch Forum has also been added to help keep this more organized. You will now find everything batch related in this forum, the FFR Songs and Artist Permissions subforum has been moved here as well.

While I’m here I’d like to mention that we have still been working on getting the official tournament up and running for you all. We’ve made a good deal of progress in file judgements for it and the slots are starting to fill up. For all the most up to date information be sure to pop in the thread from time to time.

That’s all from me for now, I can’t wait to see the community getting involved in the file reviews!
